The International College of Applied Kinesiology-USA (ICAK-USA) announced today that they will award another George J. Goodheart Scholarship at Logan College of Chiropractic. The $2500 scholarship will again be sponsored by Standard Process Inc., an established Wisconsin-based company offering whole food supplements and high-quality herbals. Following a successful beginning for the Goodheart Scholarship, the second year of awards will begin in February with the Logan College of Chiropractic.

"We are thrilled to be moving into our second year of the Goodheart Scholarship. It shows our sponsors' continued support and commitment to furthering education and awareness of applied kinesiology," stated Jennifer Palmer, ICAK-USA Associate Executive Director. In addition to the $2500 scholarship at Logan, the winner will receive an all expenses-paid trip to the Standard Process Farm and Manufacturing Plant in Palmyra, Wisconsin.

Applicants must be a seventh trimester student or above, be an active member of Logan's Applied Kinesiology (AK) Club, and maintain a grade point average of 3.0 or better. Applications will be reviewed by the ICAK-USA. Research Committee members and the winner of the $2500 scholarship will be announced in March.

Applications may be obtained by contacting ICAK-USA Central Office, 6405 Metcalf Ave., Suite 503, Shawnee Mission, Kansas, 66202; 913-384-5336; (Fax) 913-384-5112; jhart@dci-kansascity.com. Submissions must be received by Friday, February 23, 2007.

The scholarship's namesake, Dr. George Goodheart, a chiropractor, developed a new system of evaluation in chiropractic during the 1960s. He found that assessment of normal and abnormal body function could be accomplished by using muscle tests. Since the original discovery, the use of muscle testing has been applied to over 30 different therapeutic systems to evaluate which therapy is appropriate for each patient. This system is called "applied kinesiology" or AK. Dr. Goodheart has annually published his observations since 1964 and regularly produces audio tapes with current information. He has published
You'll Be Better, The Story of Applied Kinesiology, which describes his contribution to AK. Dr. Goodheart was the first chiropractor to be officially appointed to the Sports Medicine Modalities Committee of the US Olympic Committee and served at the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics, as well as the first ICAK-USA Research Director, a position he retains today.

The International College of Applied Kinesiology- (ICAK-USA), established in 1974, is an organization of licensed-to-diagnose health care professionals who utilize a range of therapies that focus on prevention, nutrition, and wellness. ICAK-USA is dedicated to furthering the knowledge of health care professionals in AK all over the world.
