New Personalized Medicine Certification from the Morsani College of Medicine at the University of South Florida

Medicine is at a crossroads. The great news is that we can now all come together as one voice under the new Personalized Medicine Certification offered by the Morsani College of Medicine at the University of South Florida. This certification is open to all members of the medical community: MDs, DOs, NPs, PAs, pharmacists, NDs, chiropractors, nutritionists, acupuncturists, and other healthcare providers. The program is also open to healthcare administrators as well as other individuals in the healthcare industry.

Conventionally medicine has been practiced in a format that looks at one disease with one or more medications to treat that disease but has not centered on the etiology of the disorder nor on disease prevention. Interestingly, the tailoring of treatment to patients dates back at least to the time of Hippocrates. Personalized health care is based on the dynamics of systems biology and uses predictive tools to evaluate health risks and to design personalized health plans to help patients mitigate risks, prevent disease, and to be treated with a customized and individualized approach.

This new educational experience offers a certification in personalized medicine which is an extension of a functional medicine approach to healthcare.

Each course is 24 hours covered in three days. Each class also features monthly webinars to enhance the student’s education and provide ample time to have questions answered.

Course 1 centers on endocrinology with an extensive review of the medical literature on the benefits of bio-identical hormone replacement therapy.
