Hepatitis Technologies Moves to Medicinal Food Status
Ground Breaking Anti-Fibrotic Study
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Date: January 4, 2012
A recent study conducted at the U of A
has catapulted NRG’s Hepatitis Technologies into receiving Medicinal Food Status.
The protocols surrounding these results were theories refined over 20 years by one of the world’s most brilliant scientists/researchers, Dr Peter Schmid.
Chronic Liver Disease (CLD) is a major global health problem. The absence of therapeutic treatments to reverse liver fibrosis results in an inexorable march to liver cirrhosis/failure for many.
In 2006, the journal, “Hepatology”, addressed this issue, asking if liver fibrosis/cirrhosis could be reversed. (Reversal of Hepatic Fibrosis– Fact or Fantasy? * Hepatology.2006 Feb; 43(2 Suppll):S82-8.) The article acknowledges the urgency of developing protocols to reverse cirrhosis “…as the epidemics of HCV and NASH are associated with advancing fibrosis.”
The answer was closer than they anticipated. In 2004, Todd Schneider began working on finding a solution with a team of scientists and physicians. Todd had been infected in infancy with both hepatitis Band C from tainted blood products. He had had a liver biopsy diagnosing cirrhosis. However, six years later, his cirrhosis was reversed (though he remained co-infected).
World-renowned physician, Dr. Lorne Tyrrell, former Dean of Medicine at the University of Alberta, documented this reversal. It was due to a remarkable protocol developed by Todd’s medical advisory team (led by Dr. Peter Schmid). Recently, Dr.Tyrell’s research team conducted a study using this protocol on a mouse model with a humanized liver infected with the Hepatitis C virus.
Their results proved that this protocol counteracts the mechanism that generates fibrotic scar tissue caused by stellate cell activation. The protocol blocks the progression of fibrosis by up to 90 percent!
This physician-supervised Medical Food protocol is the first science-based, comprehensive, Hepatitis C management system available to physicians that features antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and phospholipid components to form a complete anti-fibrotic regimen.
