A Different View on

Standard

of

Care Guidelines

In “Letter From the Publisher” [#357], you stated that in cases of HIV/AIDS, CAM practitioners should follow allopathic “standard of care” guidelines, which is basically drug therapy. You also seemed to agree with the outcome of the Law And Order television episode relating to this subject.

I have a different view. First, I don’t agree that natural health physicians cannot succeed with HIV/AIDS without using drugs. In fact, I believe you have had articles in the Townsend Letter by physicians who are succeeding with HV/AIDS.

Second, if a parent chooses to follow an alternative approach for HIV/AIDS or anything else, the parent, it seems to me, should have that right. I do not want the state telling everyone which treatments must be given to children or to adults. That is pure allopathic medical tyranny.

Allopathic “standard of care” guidelines for many life-and-death situations can be lethal, such as cancer chemotherapy and radiation. I am not sure why you would say that CAM physicians should abide by the allopathic standard of care guidelines, when in many cases it is not good at all.
